v1.5.0

Latest 123Pay on every SIM
  • Daak now pays over UPI 123Pay on every SIM: Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL. *99# is gone.
  • Why: on real phones *99# wasn't safe to trust with money. On a Redmi it wouldn't run at all. On a OnePlus a payment often had to be entered twice, and sometimes nothing happened even after the right UPI PIN. *99# depends on the phone's own pop-up, the carrier's gateway and a short time limit, and Daak can't fix any of them. A 123Pay payment is an ordinary phone call, so it works on every phone and every carrier. The full story: [Why not *99#](https://daak-theta.vercel.app/blog/why-daak-dropped-99).
  • Payments go up to ₹4,999 each, in whole rupees. Scan & pay works when the QR's UPI ID is a mobile number (like 98xxxxxx10@ybl); for a UPI ID made of letters, Daak asks for the person's mobile number instead.
  • Balance is checked over a 123Pay call on every SIM.
  • One welcome for everyone, with the 123Pay sign-up page if this SIM hasn't paid with 123Pay before. A SIM set up for *99# still needs the one-time 123Pay sign-up.
  • Your payment history stays. Old payments still show *99#.

v1.4.0

*99# set up
  • Airtel, Vi and BSNL get their own welcome: how *99# works, and if this SIM hasn't paid with it before, a step-by-step guide to linking your bank (language, bank code, account, debit card, UPI PIN). Open *99# right from there. Jio keeps the 123Pay welcome.
  • Set up for *99# now shows every screen of the menu, and says to try again if *99# is busy.
  • *99# payments stop at ₹5,000, the most *99# allows in one payment, so you find out before dialling.
  • Settings: Auto-confirm and App lock are switches you flip right there, and sit together above My QR.
  • Reinstalling Daak, or moving to a new phone, brings back your settings and 123Pay or *99# sign-up from your encrypted Android backup, so you don't go through the welcome screens again. Payment history still never leaves the phone.

v1.3.2

  • Fixed: Daak from Google Play closed itself as soon as it opened ("Daak keeps stopping").
  • The Sending screen no longer shows a list of keys to press; allow phone calls once and Daak presses them for you.

v1.3.1

  • Fixed: 1.3.0 closed itself as soon as it opened.
  • 123Pay calls: if Daak isn't allowed to make calls, it now asks when you tap Pay. Without it, your dialer opens and Daak shows the exact keys to press, since many dialers drop them.
  • Auto-confirm has a real on/off switch. Off, Daak ignores your SMS and asks after each payment.
  • A failed payment no longer suggests signing up for 123Pay on a SIM that has paid before.

v1.3.0

Updates
  • Daak is on Google Play.
  • When a new version is out, Home shows *New update available*. Tap it and the update downloads while you keep using Daak, then tap *Update ready* to restart into it.
  • Settings has an Updates row to check again. Google Play's app does the checking, so Daak still never uses the internet.

v1.2.1

  • My QR now looks like Daak: pine dots, rounded corners and the Daak mark in the middle, on cream.
  • Settings stops showing "Sign up for 123Pay" once your SIM is set up.

v1.2.0

Hindi and Gujarati
  • Daak now speaks Hindi and Gujarati. Pick a language in Settings, or let it follow your phone.
  • My QR: save your UPI ID once and show a QR anyone can scan to pay you. Add an amount if you like.
  • App lock: ask for your fingerprint or screen lock when Daak opens, and again after five minutes away.
  • Quick amounts: tap what you usually pay someone instead of typing it.

v1.1.0

Favourites
  • Star the people you pay most. They sit at the top of Pay, above everyone else.
  • Your favourites also show on Home as round chips: tap one and you're on the amount screen.
  • Star anyone from the Pay screen too, even a number that isn't in your contacts.
  • Favourites stay on your phone and work even without contacts access.

v1.0.0

Google Play
  • Ready for Google Play: built for Android 16.
  • Settings links to the privacy policy. Short version: nothing leaves your phone.

v0.9.4

Set up first
  • New to 123Pay or *99#? Daak walks you through the one-time sign-up before your first payment, then sends it.
  • Setup asks once if your SIM already pays this way. Say yes and Daak goes straight to paying.
  • The sign-up call presses nothing, so you pick your language and bank yourself.
  • A payment that didn't go through offers the sign-up, and Settings has it too.

v0.9.3

Bank receipts
  • Reads IDFC FIRST Bank and UltraCash (123Pay) payment SMS the moment they arrive.
  • The Paid screen now shows a receipt: who got the money, the amount, the reference number and which bank confirmed it.
  • One SMS settles one payment. A second SMS for the same payment no longer marks another one paid.

v0.9.2

New icon
  • A new app icon: a serif "d" with a lilac dot.

v0.9.1

  • Tried a new app icon (the Signal D), replaced in 0.9.2.

v0.9.0

Pay a contact
  • Pay anyone in your contacts: search by name or number, tap, pay.
  • Works on every SIM, Jio included.
  • Contacts stay on your phone. Daak only asks for them when you open the list.

v0.8.1

  • On a 123Pay call you can't type more than ₹4,999 any more.
  • Every digit you type rolls in exactly like the first one.

v0.8.0

Balance on Jio
  • Balance on Jio: Daak calls 123Pay, presses 2 for you and guides you through the call back.
  • Every digit you type now rolls into place, not just the first.
  • On Jio, a QR that needs *99# now explains why and lets you pay their mobile number instead.
  • The home screen no longer drains battery while it sits open.

v0.7.0

Confirms itself
  • Auto-confirm is on by default: when your bank's SMS arrives, the payment is stamped paid.
  • No SMS access? Daak simply asks "Did the payment go through?" after you pay.
  • Removed the paste-an-SMS box. Nobody needs to copy anything.
  • The bottom bar has a Pay tab instead of Confirm.

v0.6.0

Green
  • One green look everywhere: oatmeal, pine and lilac.
  • New app icon to match, including Android's themed icon mode.

v0.5.0

One theme
  • The colour moods are gone. Everyone gets the same look.
  • The Style tab is now Settings: appearance, auto-confirm and who made Daak.
  • Fixed the app icon in Android's themed icon mode.
  • Fixed a flicker in the onboarding animation.
  • Simpler wording across the app.

v0.4.1

  • Only one row of dots on the onboarding pages.
  • Confetti when the stamp lands in the onboarding animation.

v0.4.0

Just watch
  • Onboarding shows a short animation of how paying works, instead of text.

v0.3.0

New home
  • New home screen with big pay tiles and bottom tabs.
  • The scan button sits in the middle of the bottom bar.
  • The Paid screen fills with colour when your bank confirms.
  • The ledger shows your confirmed total.

v0.2.0

Better on Jio
  • A live guide during 123Pay calls: call ends, call back, press 1, PIN.
  • Helps you turn on auto-confirm when Android blocks SMS access.
  • Reads SMS from more banks: SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Axis, Kotak, PNB, Canara, Union Bank and Bank of Baroda.
  • Test any bank SMS to see if Daak understands it.
  • Balance check works on Jio.

v0.1.0

First release
  • Pay over *99# or UPI 123Pay with no internet.
  • Scan a UPI QR, or pay a mobile number or UPI ID.
  • Payments are marked paid when your bank's SMS arrives.
  • No internet permission. Your PIN never enters Daak.
